The
Applied Materials Foundation, a California nonprofit
corporation qualified
under Section 501(c)(3) of the
Internal Revenue Code was established in 1994
by Applied
Materials, Inc. the global leader in Nanomanufacturing
Technology solutions. The Foundation's mission is to
make a positive social contribution in regions where Applied
Materials employees work and live through philanthropic
investments in the areas of education, civic development, arts
and culture, and
the environment.
Meals on Wheels and
More of Austin has served
elderly, disabled, and low income citizens of Austin for over
30 years. They have established strong, relationships
with their clients. MOWAM has been an amazing partner
for this program by finding eligible homeowners
and funding home retrofits for MOWAM
customers.
Texas Solar Power
Company has partnered with our program to provide design,
sizing, procurement and installation of solar PV systems for
installation workshops and also is supporting our
new student training program called 'Training
Tomorrow' with Austin Community College (ACC). Texas
Solar Power Company also provides trainers and personnel to
lead the hands-on portions of our solar installation workshops
and ACC student events.
Green Zone Home is a residential and commercial home energy auditing company that provides energy audits for our homeowners prior to each work event so that we can be assured that our activities completed at the events are targeted and effective at reducing energy use.
Texas Metal Cisterns build and install rainwater collection systems for
homeowners. For our program, they provide beautiful,
locally-made rainwater collection tanks for our homeowners at
no cost.
Austin
Energy offers free
weatherization for qualifying homeowners, as well as a variety
of rebate programs. The 1houseTM at a time
Austin program takes advantage of many of these programs
including air conditioning and washer rebate and
refrigerator recycling programs, as well as the solar
photovoltaic rebate.
Austin Water
Utility provides free
toilets, faucet aerators, rain barrel rebates and
other water conservation equipment at no charge to our
homeowners for our Austin Texas homeowner
events.
American
YouthWorks has several
Youthbuild programs, such as CasaVerde Builders & Green
Energy Corps, that provide young people with education and
hands-on construction skills by building or retrofitting
single family homes in Austin, ensuring they are always
energy-efficient and affordable. We will continue to
collaborate with AYW to bring energy efficiency to
Austin’s most vulnerable populations.
Austin Community College
(ACC) and A Nurtured World have created a new program to
complement our 1house at a timeTM mission called
Training Tomorrow. This program will allow students who
are participating in ACC's solar installation degree programs
to practice their skills on eligible homeowners identified for
work events. This program is in its pilot phase with the
first solar installation scheduled for Winter
2009.
Habitat for
Humanity has a home repair program called "A
Brush With Kindness". A Nurtured World is committed to
partnering with Habitat for Humanity on homes that qualify for
their home repair program to support them with our home
efficiency services thereby maximizing the impact to the
homeowner who benefits from both programs.
